Glencoe State Qualifing BMX race 6-13-09...
We took off early from the shop, my lovely bride and myself, headed south to Buffalo Creek BMX in Glencoe MN. It is kind of wierd going to the BMX races without the kids, although we have made some friends at the track. Kristen, and Wayne are a super nice couple that we see regularly, and thier son Alek races 7i (intermediate) for Team Revolution as well. The Glencoe track being just a year old was in pretty good shape, you can tell it is still new they still need a few things to help things run a little smoother, staging lanes, and a way to keep the finish line cleared out. And a little animal control would be good, more on that later... Team Revolution had some representation at Glencoe, we had Alek, who transferred out of the second moto (it was a 3 moto transfer) Cory Franzwa a 13x who had a couple small problems and had to go to the third moto to transfer. Jeremy Nothom a 12x who transferred in the 3 moto as well. I had total points race on the class bike, and there were 4 of us in the old guy cruiser class so I had to go 3 motos as well =:^/ Feature time, I was up first on my ODI, BELL helmets, sponsored FELT cruiser, got a good start, despite the distraction of a small dog loose on the track, they let the gate go which they probably should not have, come to find out later that this dog runs the track with one of the local kids, it was quite the interesting having a dog in the way, one of the riders ended up almost crashing because of the dog and we had to re-run the race, UGH! I didn't get as good of a start in the second race but remained in the hunt to the finish, so a 3rd place for the team to start. Alek was up next, getting a bad start was at the tail end of a 7 rider gate by the first berm, after the first berm and the short chute between one a 2 berms, a couple riders must have gone down... by the second long straight Alek had jumped all the way to third! a tight race to the finish but he held on for 3rd! Jeremy was up next, he mixed it up with some really good 12x's and got another 3rd place! Next up was Cory, after going 3 motos I think he was a little charged up, cause he got a great start and put a bike or 2 length on the 2nd place rider and never looked back, very smooth and fast was never challenged for the win! And last was me on the class bike, it was total points for this class tonight, and going into the feature i had 2 aces so I had a win in the bag, But the FELT sector just feels so good, I got a great start, and put a gap on the other 2 riders, the ODI grips kept me connected, the SX front end kept me steering in the right direction, and as ALWAYS, the BELL helmet kept my knoggin safe! We had a nice team showing, 2 wins, 3 thirds... now because I am still new at this we will turn in the 'TEAM' sheets at the right time, next time... =;^) thanks for reading, and have a blessed day!
